If your child is of school age, the first port of call if you are concerned should be your child's class teacher, the school SENCo (Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator), or the Head Teacher at the school.
The school will have an SEN policy which should be easily located on the school's website.
If your child is not yet of school age, either the pre-school or Nursery will be able to help you.
Alternatively, contact your Health Visitor or GP.
If you feel that your child's school/pre-school/Nursery is unable to support your child, you can ask your Local Authority to carry out an Education, Health & Care Needs Assessment.

If your child is subject to a "Child in Need Plan", this means that the Local Authority believe that the child is in need of Local Authority services and support to sustain a reasonable level of health and development, or require Local Authority support to prevent further harm to their health and development.
A Child Protection Plan is a plan put together by a Local Authority if they consider that a child is suffering or is likely to suffer significant harm.
The Child Protection Plan sets out ways in which a child can be kept safe and how families can be supported and helped in making changes to ensure the child's safety and welfare is met.
