Services
Mark Drew was admitted as a Solicitor in 1992 having graduated from Warwick University in 1982 and in the interim worked in the car industry and briefly on a medical research project.
In 1990 he became a trainee solicitor with a firm in Coventry specialising in Legal Aid work before moving to North Warwickshire, initially specialising in personal injury, employment and crime.
Mark moved to Legal 500 firm Brethertons in Rugby, Warwickshire until 1999 before he moved to Devon.
Since which time Mark has specialised solely in the field of criminal litigation, joining John Hansell in Dartmouth 2001 and setting up Hansell Drew in 2003.
Simon Colman was admitted as a solicitor in 1993 and worked for firms in Teignmouth and Newton Abbot before joining Hansell Drew & Co in 2005.
He specialises in Police Station and Magistrates Court, and particularly Youth Court work.
He is the Chairman of Teignbridge and South Hams Duty Solicitor Scheme and is heavily involved in local criminal justice reforms.
Simon frequently sees clients in our Newton Abbot Consulting Rooms (which can be booked by appointment) and was born and brought up in South Devon.
Every person who the Police propose to interview under caution at the Police Station, whether under arrest or attending by appointment voluntarily, is entitled to free independent legal advice paid for by the Legal Aid Authority.
The Police are proposing to interview you about a crime.
If you are prosecuted or convicted of that crime, or the Police impose an official caution (which although stops short of Court proceedings), this will create an official criminal record which can have serious impact upon future life prospects, such as employment and even foreign travel.
If you are charged or receive a summons through the post asking you to attend Court, please contact us.
We can give you advice concerning your attendance at the Magistrates Court.
If your case proceeds to the Crown Court we will ensure that you are fully represented until the conclusion of your case.
Our experience of dealing with clients who are prosecuted for Road Traffic offences is that their licences are very valuable to them and the inconvenience of losing it is considerable and can lead to loss of employment and can place great strain upon the family.
Within Road Traffic Law there are offences where disqualification is mandatory, such as driving with excess alcohol and offences where the Court will, in addition to punishment, impose penalty points and have a discretion to disqualify somebody from driving depending upon the exact circumstances of each case.
