We deal with Settlement Agreements which are legally binding contracts made between an employer and an employee and usually entered into at the termination of employment.
A Settlement Agreement will usually provide that, in return for a payment, the employee will give up the right to pursue any claims against the employer through the Employment Tribunal or Courts.
The Agreement must be in writing and the employee must have received advice from an independent adviser on its terms and effects before deciding whether to enter into it.
When relationships break down there are usually important issues to be resolved such as how to divide up your assets and appropriate arrangements for your children.
We aim to provide you with clear advice on the relevant principles of matrimonial/cohabitation law and practical guidance on the options open to you.
We focus on achieving fair solutions through negotiation and agreement wherever possible.
We understand that times of relationship breakdown can be very stressful for all concerned and we will deal with your matter with sensitivity and care.
Whether you wish to make a claim or one is being made against you or dealing with a dispute whether small or large can be a stressful experience, especially if you are unsure about the relevant law, cost and procedures involved.
We handle a wide range of disputes and can provide practical advice with the aim of identifying your chances of success and resolving the matter quickly and cost effectively.
Wherever possible we will try to help you settle disputes by negotiation.
In many cases disputes can be resolved by using alternate dispute resolution (ADR) methods such as mediation, which tends to be more informal than going to court.
