Services
Kenneth MacLeod began his own legal firm in 1981.
He was later joined by a friend as a partner and later by yet another friend, both are now Sheriffs.
The firm moved to 13 Lombard Street, in Inverness City Centre in 1993.
The firm has been there since, handling all legal matters (excluding criminal court work).
Kenneth was joined by Moray MacDonald in the late 1990s.
James Stewart joined in 2013 and David Simpson in 2015.
Graduate of Aberdeen University.
General Practitioner of Law, including Commercial and Maritime Law and is a Crofting Law Specialist.
Agricultural Law in Scotland is complex and in the last few years has been altered as far as agricultural tenancies are concerned.
This is a matter on which we can advise; it is dangerous to embark on this subject without expert legal advice.
James Stewart is well experienced to assist and is Chair of the Law Society of Scotland Accreditation Panel.
Crofting Law also requires expertise and specialised legal advice and we are happy to assist.
It is well recognised that along with rising life expectancy there unfortunately has been an increase in the number of people who suffer from progressive conditions such a dementia.
Many people have a family member with dementia and know how distressing that condition can be.
A Power of Attorney can provide some peace of mind, by allowing you to decide who you would like to look after your affairs should you become incapable due to mental illness or injury other than by reason of dementia, stroke or head injury or other cause.
There are situations in which disputes can arise which may give rise to court proceedings.
Our policy is to negotiate settlement where possible, as civil litigation can often be expensive and drawn out and often negotiating a settlement can be the most satisfactory outcome.
However, that is not always possible and we are able to advise and act for you in a wide range of civil law disputes both in the Court of Session and in the Sheriff Court.
Property Disputes: You may have a dispute for example in relation to the boundary or access to land.
Settlement Agreements: An employer and an employee quite often reach agreement for that the employee will cease employment in return for sum of money and on other conditions.
This frequently happens in a redundancy, or as a result of a dispute between an employer and employee and a Settlement Agreement is a complex document.
For the Agreement to be legally valid an employee requires to take independent legal advice.
We can check if an employee has been offered fair terms of settlement, or whether he is entitled to better terms of settlement e.g. an increased sum of money to be paid.
