A former President of the highly respected Edinburgh Bar Association, he was the first Scottish solicitor to be consulted by the Libyan Government in the wake of the Lockerbie air bombing.
Most memorably, in 1992 George became the first criminal defence lawyer in the UK to conduct a televised criminal trial and was the focus for the BBC documentary 'The Trial - One Angry Man' the same year.
