Hogan Brown Solicitors
At Hogan Brown we undertake white collar crime, tax investigations and regulatory work. We adopt an unashamedly old fashioned approach to helping our clients: we believe that hard work and preparation gets results. The firm's lawyers are dedicated to achieving the best possible results even in the most high profile cases. Many lawyers have raw talent, but the difference between winning and losing a criminal defence comes down to time.

Even the most experienced criminal lawyer will fail unless he or she can devote sufficient time to the preparation of the client's defence. The hardest working criminal lawyer can devote only a certain number of hours to their practice each year. By taking on a limited number of cases each year, the firm ensures that their lawyers give their all.

We'd like to welcome you to our brand new website, with a new redesign and look we hope you'll find everything you're looking for, we decided we needed a new look to keep up with the ever-growing chan.Possibly two of the biggest Hot Topics at the moment with HMRC are Marketed Avoidance Schemes and the effects of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA).

Our clients have included business men and women; high-profile individuals from the world of sport and entertainment; newly qualified drivers and people who drive for a living.
Our motoring team lead by John Brown is one of the leading specialists in motoring offences in the North West.
His previous background as a Senior Legal Advisor in the Magistrates has equipped him with many years of genuine, hands-on experience and expertise in dealing with these type of offences.
A Restraint Order or freezing order is an order made by the Crown Court which prevents either an individual or a company from dealing with their own property.
Such orders can be obtained long before sufficient evidence has been gathered to justify a charge or a prosecution.
They allow the prosecution to launch a pre-emptive strike against a suspect, paralyzing his everyday business activity.
Applications for restraint orders are almost always made without notice to the suspect.
In addition, restraint orders often have additional clauses which require the suspect to make full disclosure of his assets within a designated period of time and/or a requirement that the suspect retains his assets in the UK.
Hogan Brown is able to advise in particular on investigations and prosecutions relating to direct and indirect tax.
We have wide experience of cases prosecuted by HM Revenue and Customs and of the huge range of powers available to officers investigating tax evasion (such as search warrants and various types of production orders).
Equally, we are instructed to conduct negotiations with HM Revenue and Customs so as to bring about a civil settlement.
This sometimes involves disclosures brought about under the present International Disclosure Facility and other investigations involving HMRC Code 9 matters.
