Below are listed our Family Fixed Fees chargeable for Family Work involving divorce/ dissolution of civil partnership, money matters as a result of relationship breakdown, children matters.
These charges are for the office based work only.
If you wish us to attend court on your behalf separate charges will apply.
Further there may be additional charges for experts or barristers, which will be agreed with you prior to any instructions to them.
Our Initial Advice for divorce/ civil partnership dissolution, money matters arising from relationship breakdown or children issues not involving children's services, is included in our fixed fee if you chose to instruct us.
At Chamberlins we believe you should obtain legal advice as soon as possible if your relationship has broken down.
There are many issues to consider including advice about any children of the relationship and/or property and other assets.
It is important for children that they are kept out of disputes between adults as much as possible.
The children have a right to see the parent that does not live with them on a regular basis, and this should include overnight contact.
If you are not married you do not have an automatic right to a share of the assets accumulated during the relationship, unless you can prove the asset is a joint one.
The breakdown of a marriage or civil partnership can be very upsetting for all concerned and especially children.
We can assist you with initial advice and thereafter if you wish with all the steps necessary to obtain a divorce/ dissolution of partnership, either as the petitioner (the person who starts the divorce process) or the respondent (the person who receives the divorce papers).
We will at the same time assist you with any children or financial issues.
You cannot apply for a divorce/ dissolution until you have been married/ in a partnership for at least 12 months.
At the same time as the divorce/ dissolution is going through we try and deal with the financial issues arising from it.
Likewise your opponent should attend a meeting, and again if they do not do so the Court can adjourn the application to give them time to do so.
If they refuse the application will proceed.
