Houghton Pigot & Co Solicitors was established in 1990 following the merger of two firms, Houghton & Pigot and G. Raymond Pigot & Co.
The partners of Houghton & Pigot, had previously been partners in the long established Wigan firm Ackerleys (formerly Ackerley Heaton and Pigot).
The partners of G. Raymond Pigot & Co., Frances Lawlor and Mark Randall had both trained as Solicitors with Ackerleys.
In 1998, the firm was established in its present form with Sue Houghton joining Frances and Mark as a partner and Margaret Houghton continuing to serve the firm as a consultant.
