Paula Day Solicitors
Paula Day Solicitors is a small firm and we pride ourselves on being friendly and approachable. When you contact us, you will speak to me, Sue, who has worked for me for nearly 20 years, or my Mum. It really is a 'family affair'! We work from our homes and we visit you in the comfort of your home. We know a Solicitors' office can be so intimidating but with Paula Day Solicitors there is no need to be nervous, just sit back, relax and let us do the worrying for you.

All we ask is that you put the kettle on just before we arrive. Whatever your reasons for seeking the advice of a Solicitor, our aim is to make the process as transparent and easy for you as possible, from your first contact with the firm to the conclusion of your matter. We understand that dealing with legal matters can be confusing and worrying at times, but our friendly staff have the benefit of years of legal experience, and will use this experience to guide you with clarity, precision and understanding.

Throughout your dealings with Paula Day Solicitors, we hope that you will realise that your interests will become our interests as we aim to provide a complete service to all our Clients.
Services
The firm was established by Mrs Elizabeth Scannell in 1969 and was originally known as Scannell & Co. Initially working from home, Mrs Scannell went on to open two offices, one in Shenfield and the second in Stanford-le-Hope, during which time she also took over the firms of Oliver Dimdore and the Shenfield office of Hunt & Hunt.
I like to think so anyway!
I qualified as a Solicitor in 2001 and specialise in Wills, Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
I have always worked for this firm in various capacities starting off as a Receptionist at the age of 16 and working through the ranks until I became the Principal in 2008.
If you are interested in the technical bit, the letters after my name 'LLB (Hons)' means I have a Law Degree and I also obtained Post Graduate qualifications in Law with Legal Practice and Professional Skills Courses.
A recent survey has revealed that 64% of the population do not have a current Will, the most common reason for this being that they 'just have not got round to it'.
It is essential for anyone who owns property or personal assets or, indeed, has children, to make a Will to ensure that their wishes are carried out on their death.
The lack of a Will can cause additional difficulties for relatives at an already distressing time.
The above is based on straightforward instructions and the cost may vary depending upon the complexity.
We hope that having read the contents of our website you can see that the care of our Clients is paramount to all of our working practices and that, if you choose to instruct us, this will be apparent throughout the handling of your case.
However, on rare occasions (thankfully) you may feel you have cause for complaint and, if so, I would ask that you communicate directly with me regarding this, preferably in writing.
I hope that my explanation will be sufficient to resolve the issue but, if you remain dissatisfied, you can contact the Legal Ombudsman.
