Coates Solicitors
At Coates Solicitors we provide personal, friendly and practical legal advice based on traditional values to a variety of clients. A significant proportion of our work comes from recommendations and repeat business from satisfied clients. Our residential conveyancing and private client solicitors have years of experience and provide an outstanding service.

The only way to ensure that your dependants and loved ones are provided for in the event of your death is to write a legally enforceable Will. When a person has lost the ability and capacity to make decisions regarding their own finances or welfare it may be that a Court of Protection Order is required. There are two main types of power of attorney that cover different scenarios when you may need others to make decisions and sign on your behalf.

Whether or not a person has left a Will- a grant of representation may need to be obtained in order to settle their financial affairs. Our Commercial Property Team have a wealth of experience of acting for both Landlord or Tenant in respect the grant of new leases and all estate management instructions.

When a person has lost the ability and capacity to make decisions regarding their own finances or welfare, and a Lasting or Enduring Power of Attorney has not been created beforehand, then it may be that a Court of Protection Order is required.
A Deputyship Order must be formally granted by the Court of Protection to give you (The Deputy) authority and permission to safeguard and make decisions for the person who has lost capacity.
We at Prospect Probate Services work for over 50 solicitors and councils throughout the UK handling sensitive probate and deputyship cases and could not recommend Coates Solicitors highly enough.
There are two main types of power of attorney that cover different scenarios when you may need others to make decisions and sign on your behalf.
A power of attorney can only be made whilst you retain full capacity to make your own decisions.
General or Specific Power of Attorney is used when you are not physically present to sign or make decisions.
Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document made by you the Donor allowing you to choose someone (the Attorney) to make decisions on your behalf about things such as your property and affairs or personal welfare at some point in the future when you no longer wish to make those decisions or lack the capacity to do so.
