Services
Gaby Hardwicke Solicitors is a leading Sussex law firm with offices in Eastbourne, Hailsham, Bexhill and Hastings.
We provide a wide range of legal services for businesses and individuals.
Dr Frederick Goodwin founded the firm in Hastings in 1889 and was joined in practice by Ralph Gaby three years later.
Goodwin retired from the partnership in 1894 and Gaby continued alone until Allen Hardwicke became a partner after the First World War and the firm's title altered accordingly.
Gaby Hardwicke has grown substantially since those early years but still retains the values of its 19th-century founders Frederick Goodwin and Ralph Gaby, who instilled the pursuit of excellence, a caring approach and the provision of fast, effective legal advice at the core of the firm's philosophy.
We pursue excellence.
We're committed to your professional training and development and will offer you the opportunity to excel.
The more you put in, the more you get out.
Many staff have benefited from our in-house training programmes and gained formal, recognised qualifications.
With five offices across four major East Sussex towns and a wide range of legal sectors, Gaby Hardwicke offers excellent potential for growth and progression throughout your career.
Since 2000 we've trained more than 30 solicitors; 25 stayed with us after qualifying, and seven of our partners trained with the firm.
Each year the firm supports a nominated charity or local cause and encourages partners and staff to take part in fundraising activities.
For 2021 our chosen Charities of the Year are St Michael's Hospice and St Wilfrid's Hospice.
St Michael's Hospice provides high quality, responsive palliative care and bereavement support across Hastings and Rother, and work collaboratively with others to improve end of life care for all.
Since they opened in 1987, the Hospice have cared for more than 12,500 people living with life-limiting illnesses.
Most law firms base their charges on the time they spend dealing with your case or transaction.
Often this will mean that you pay an hourly rate, or where you are offered a fixed price for a piece of work it will be because the type of work is relatively straightforward or it's possible to estimate how much time your matter will take, often because there is no other party involved.
Our lawyers will check with you during your initial meeting or telephone conversation with us whether you have other funding options available to you, such as cover under an insurance policy.
We understand that family and personal legal issues can be stressful and at times awkward and upsetting.
Our lawyers are experts in their fields and will give you friendly, straightforward, step-by-step advice whatever your circumstances or requirements.
Thanks to the depth of our expertise and the breadth of the services we offer, we're able to support our clients through every stage of their lives.
We understand that divorce, relationship breakdown and disputes concerning children are difficult, stressful and often traumatic.
